Bikers ram into railway gate in Howrah; Traffic halted and train services hit

An incident of vandalism was reported on Saturday at the railway gate between Borgachia and Jangipara stations in Jagatballavpur, Howrah district. According to sources, the railway gate was closed for train movement when a group of bikers attempted to forcibly cross. During the attempt, one of the motorcycles rammed into the gate, leading to its collapse. The accident caused a temporary disruption in vehicular traffic in the area.

The broken railway gate raised concerns over the safety of the route, with train operations on the line expected to remain affected until repairs were completed. Following the incident, railway staff began the process of restoring the gate to ensure smooth operations. Local sources indicated that the disruption lasted for some time before partial normalcy was restored for road traffic.

Railway police personnel reached the spot immediately after the incident and brought the situation under control. One biker was detained in connection with the incident. It was also alleged that during the altercation, the bikers threatened the railway gate guard on duty. Investigations into the matter are underway.
